I am Sandrine Bélart, aka Rosalynd4feuilles, a "self made woman"
writer-illustrator, painter, graphic designer of Pas-de-Calais, France.
A graduate of Fine Arts Schools, I turned to illustration since 2004
and from 2007 to writing (artist-writer member of the "Maison des
Artistes" since June 2007).
I started working in watercolors, but now I use especially acrylic,
allows me to work in mixed colors . My results in a realistic style,
colorful influenced by the Anglo-Saxon school of new Surrealists.
My Stories are still about life and times , and problems for finding
its place in society, whether child, adolescent or adult.
Children's literature and me: As a child, even before I read, I was
a great fan of images, color, tenderness, comfort and escape that
I found in children's books, "my dear little books", were my treasure to me,
in my vegetables wood box used as a library, I dragged in the 4 corners
of the house. The youth literature helped me to grow up,
to cultivate my differences and widen my field of vision. After a
breakaway for 15 years through the Fine Arts (which continues
today), I renewed since 2004 with my dear childhood treasure
(even if my precious vegetables wood box unfortunately disappeared),
I try to pass on the other side of the barrier and to create my books as
an author - illustrator for discovering and love for children of the world.
Fictionalized biography: (yet true in all points!) Once upon a time,
Sandrine Bélart, author-illustrator, painter, graphic designer,
independent Rock musician ( "Gingerbread" and today, "Hamilton")...
one of whose ancestors was a crew member of Jean Bart, famous
French Corsaire (terror of North seas, captain of privateers based
in Dunkerque).
"My paternal grandmother was in Calais lace, after a large
family of fishermen, seafarers and "dentelières" (Calais, Boulogne,
Dunkerque) she sent undoubtedly gene taste for beautiful things

and the determination and adventure ... "

(My grandmother Rosalie foreground)
So French, but also with some distant roots Anglo-Spanish ...
After a family of workers, she born 20 December in the Pas-de
-Calais, France.
"The story said that in 1658, Dunkerque, the basis of the fleet privateer
commissioned by Jean Bart, was Spanish and French and English on
the same day. "
After spent the savings that it has opened by Rosa grandmother to
register at the Beaux-Arts of Valenciennes, then at the School of Arts
in Tourcoing, where she graduated with mention. Already his artistic
work reflects a certain attraction to the tales, legends, myths, mysteries
of the nature and ancestral worship.
From 1991, she teaches visual arts in workshop or in the Museum
of Nord Pas-de-Calais to pass to large and small universe and its taste
for Art. In 2000 she went to new technologies, secret software
production of images, she continues to create strong links between its
phantasmagoria and computer. It becomes more graphics and
spent some years in advertising, including in 2003 at Studio ETC
(Benifontaine) where she worked on Characters in licenses (ASTERIX /
PINGU / WINNIE / BABAR / RONALD MC DONALD ...).
The revelation. She finally found its way, direction "illustration".

My adventurer roots found: In continuing my research, I traced my
privateer ancestor in a book by Jean MERRIEN, "Histoire des Corsaires"
at "l'Ancre de Marine" publishings.
Pages 167 to 173, POURE Louis (1741-1789), an humble privateer
Boulogne Marine naive writer says:

In another, in 1766, South Tief their privateer was attacked Three
English ships (a box, a schooner and a frigate) ... after 3:30, the
frigate was our anchor behind the scope of a shot ... she sent a second
fly ... we were drilled to water in the room, the captain SOUBITEZ
(my grandmother called Rosalie SOUBITEZ) took the lead flag ...
it was a sad case heard a crew English to shout: Come save us!
It is time! We sink! ... I say to the captain SOUBITEZ will present
the first on the board to board of English; and they have not done their
due diligence, he answered me: We must die, my cousin! ...
Finally, I was not earlier aboard the schooner that our privateer sank
to the bottom ... we had no knowledge of cousin SOUBITEZ, otherwise he
sat on the crown before the ship sank, shouting to the English to save
him. And so ends his life and that of many brave people ".
